Zhang Ning

A card with a badminton player's name and numbers - Zhang Ning

Zhang Ning is one of badminton’s great Ladies singles players who peaked later than most and still managed to reach the very top. She’s best remembered for winning back-to-back Olympic gold medals in women’s singles (Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008), a rare feat at the highest level.

Calm under pressure, relentless in rally construction, and famously hard to break down, Zhang built her game around consistency, disguise, and forcing opponents into the corners until they cracked.

She also became World Champion in 2003, and later received recognition as a BWF Hall of Fame inductee (featured by BWF in 2021).
