Karakal Super Grip

With over 28 years of evolution, the Karakal PU Super Grip strikes an ideal balance between comfort and tackiness. The Karakal PU Super Grip is a popular choice among badminton players. In fact, it is one of the go-to grips for all racket sports players due to its super absorbent, tacky, and long-lasting qualities.

Raquex Enhance Grip

Being a new player in an already established market is always difficult, but there is no denying that the Raquex Enhance grip is definitely well-placed to steal the beginner’s market. But let’s see how it fairs against one of the titans of the industry.

We performed several tests and rated each grip we tested according to 7 different categories.  If you want to see exactly how we tested them, check out our article Best Badminton Grips.

Tackiness

Karakal Super Grip

  • 8/10
  • VERY TACKY
  • GREAT GRIP

We have high praise for the Karakal PU Super Grip for its ability to provide a secure and non-slip grip on the racket handle, even during intense matches and training. The tackiness of the grip is a crucial factor for players in maintaining control and making precise shots, especially in badminton.

Raquex Enhance Grip

  • 7/10
  • TACKY
  • SMOOTH FEEL

The tackiness of this grip was decent, though not quite up to the high standards of premium grips like the Karakal PU Super Grip. Not as “Super Grippy” as they describe, but not bad. Just shy of the Karakal Super Grip.

Comfort

Karakal Super Grip

  • 8/10
  • VERY COMFY
  • GOOD PADDING
  • PERFECT THICKNESS

As we have seen, the tackiness of this grip is great. But we are happy to say that comfort hasn’t been neglected either. Comfy to hold, it has good padding as the grip’s polyurethane material provides a cushioned and soft texture that is comfortable to hold.

Raquex Enhance Grip

  • 7/10
  • GOOD PADDING
  • CUSHIONED FEEL
  • SLIGHTLY PLASTICKY

The Raquex PU grip was comfy to hold, with good padding for a cushioned feel. We felt what stopped the grip from reaching top marks was that the padding, though definitely good, wasn’t exceptional and the grip material felt slightly plasticky. Again just falling short of the Karakal Super grip, but not missing the mark by much.

Durability

Karakal Super Grip

  • 9/10
  • LONG-LASTING
  • REMAINED TACKY
  • DURABLE

We found that the Karakal PU Super Grip showed limited wear after the test, demonstrating the durability that it is well known for, which is a significant advantage for players. The Karakal PU Super Grip is also long-lasting, maintaining its tackiness and reducing the need for frequent replacements. This can be a cost-effective choice for players in the long run.

Testing the durability of the Karakal PU Super Grip

Raquex Enhance Grip

  • 7/10
  • DURABLE
  • REDUCED TACKINESS AFTER USE

The Raquex PU grip is strong and durable, good enough to withstand the wear and tear of a badminton match without the need for frequent changing. There was very minor scuffing from the exfoliating glove from our durability test and we did find that the tackiness of the grip reduced after a full night of badminton, but we felt this was only a minor mark against the durability of the grip.

Style

Karakal Super Grip

  • 10/10
  • ENDLESS COLOURS
  • DIFFERENT STYLES
  • PERFECT FOR FASHIONISTAS

Not only is it amazingly functional, but one of the standout features of the Karakal PU Super Grip is its style, with a seemingly endless number of colors and patterns that are rivaled by none. With many different colors, patterns, and styles, there is certainly a grip for everyone.

Raquex Enhance Grip

  • 8/10
  • LOTS OF COLORS
  • RANGE OF 13 COLORS

A standout feature of the Raquex PU grip is the range of colors, giving even the Karakal (a grip for fashionistas) a run for its money. With 13 to choose from it makes it one of the go-to choices for players for which grip color matters. You will definitely find a color you love.

Absorbency

Karakal Super Grip

  • 7/10
  • GOOD ABSORBENCY
  • GOOD FOR SWEATY HANDS
  • TACKY WHEN WET

The Karakal Super Grip’s ability to absorb sweat is highly appreciated, especially as badminton is a high-intensity sport. We found that it kept our hand dry and we were able to maintain a secure hold even when wet, our simulated sweaty conditions.

Testing the absorbancy of the Karakal PU Super Grip

Raquex Enhance Grip

  • 5/10
  • POOR ABSORBENCY
  • SLIPPY WHEN WET

In our tests, we found that the Raquex PU grip performed the worst during the absorbency test. We found that the tackiness of the grip was lost when we wet our hands making the grip slippy to hold. This is the only category where it doesn’t keep up with the Karakal Super Grip.

Ease of Regrip

Karakal Super Grip

  • 8/10
  • EASY TO REGRIP
  • NO INSTRUCTION FOR SINGLE-GRIP
  • SPEED – 1 MIN 22 SEC

We found that the Karakal PU Super Grip was easy to regrip. Even though the single grip didn’t have instructions, it indicated where to start on the grip. However, the end of the grip is not pre-cut, so can be tricky for beginners. It was 3 seconds faster than the Raquex Enhance Grip and the third fastest overall out of all the grips to regrip in our speed trial.

Raquex Enhance Grip

  • 8/10
  • ADHESIVE BACKING
  • INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED
  • SPEED – 1 MIN 25 SEC

Regripping the Raquex PU grip is a straightforward process, featuring both a pre-cut start position, which is indicated on the grip, and finishing tape. Instructions are provided for beginners along with video instructions that can be found on their website. Removing both the outer layer and the adhesive backing simultaneously can be a little difficult if you are new to regripping. It was only 3 seconds slower than the Karakal Super Grip, so no real difference at all.

Price

Karakal Super Grip

  • 8/10
  • GOOD VALUE
  • PRICE RANGES
  • PAY MORE FOR STYLE

We found that the price of the Karakal PU Super Grip ranges depending on the color and style. starting from as low as around ~£2.50 in bulk to ~£10 for an individual grip in a specific style. The price works out to be mid-range but you do pay for the more expansive color range. Nevertheless, we feel that what you get for the price is definitely worth it.

Raquex Enhance Grip

  • 6/10
  • NOT EXPENSIVE NOT CHEAP
  • GREAT FOR BEGINNERS AND INTERMEDIATES
  • BULK BUY AVAILABLE

The price of the Raquex PU grip can range from as cheap as ~2.90 in bulk to ~£5.49 for a single grip. The price is definitely good enough for what you get and will be a brilliant choice for beginners and intermediate players. But, considering we found that you could buy the Karakal Super Grip for cheaper, it isn’t the absolute best value, especially if you are looking to improve your game that little bit more.

Raquex Enhance Grip

The Raquex Enhance Replacement PU Grip stands as a promising choice, especially for players exploring their grip preferences. Its decent tackiness, diverse color options, and durability make it an attractive consideration, particularly for beginners and intermediate players who want to upgrade from the starter grip that their racket came with. However, its absorbency issues, slightly plasticky feel, and reduced tackiness after extended use may deter players who want to make that next jump up and are seeking higher grip performance. In summary, the Raquex Enhance Replacement PU Grip offers a decent grip, comfort, and durability, making it a viable choice for those discovering their grip preferences. Despite its drawbacks in absorbency and comfort, its affordability and variety of color options may appeal to players seeking a reliable grip without breaking the bank.
